China sees another spike in COVID-19 cases, after multiple provinces including Hebei and Liaoning reported a sudden surge in local infections.
Health authorities of Hebei province logged 14 fresh cases, including 11 in the city of Shijiazhuang, on Tuesday. Among the cases in Shijiazhuang, three were linked to an event in the village of Xiaoguo Zhang Cun last week. One of them has also attended a wedding in a hotel the next day.
The village, where at least 10 residents have contracted the virus, was designated as a high-risk zone. Two hospitals in the city have banned visitors.
30 more asymptomatic patients, which China does not classify as confirmed cases, were also diagnosed in the province.
Meanwhile, Liaoning recorded two new local infections, including a super-spreader in Dalian. He has reportedly spread the virus to 33 others. Cases linked to the commercial building he owns has risen to 65.
Local authorities blamed the latest coronavirus resurgence in Dalian, which has infected at least 78, on imported frozen products.
The country also reported 16 imported cases on Monday, including six in Shanghai and four in Guangdong.
Visitors to shopping malls and supermarkets are required to scan their health codes, wear face masks and take their body temperature, China’s Ministry of Commerce announced on Tuesday.
