Whileheawaitedtheirreturn,Caesaroftenplayfullyremarkedthathewouldcaptureandcrucifyhiskidnapperstoaman.Theyweregreatlyamusedbythis.
Afternearly40days,theransomarrivedandCaesarwasfreed.Hepromptlygatheredafleet,pursuedthepirates,andcapturedandcrucifiedthem─toaman.

尤利烏斯．凱撒從政初年，發覺政治形勢對他不利，就離開羅馬，乘船赴愛琴海羅德斯島，準備修習雄辯之術，途中遭海盜襲擊。海盜要凱撒繳付鉅額贖身費：一萬二千塊金幣。凱撒於是遣使者去取金贖身。
等候使者回來期間，凱撒多次開玩笑似的說，會把海盜捉拿，釘上十字架處死，一個不饒。海盜都覺得很有趣。
過了將近四十天，贖金送來了，凱撒獲釋，馬上召集一支艦隊，追擊海盜，把他們捉拿釘上十字架處死，一個不饒。
【附注】Crucify即把人釘或綁在十字架上，待他慢慢死去，是古羅馬最痛苦屈辱的死刑。Toaman即「所有人」，例如：Theyagreedtoaman（他們全都同意了）。
