Mr Lai,

It has been ages since I last wrote to someone I care about. It feels a bit strange.

I believe it’s not just a small bunch of people who are waking up from nightmares, staying awake all night or waking up in the cold these days. But without fear, one has inner strength. When one has a straight back, one is righteous. In the face of big issues, a clear conscience is all the more important. There is no limit to what one has yet to learn, and when three are walking together, I am sure I will find yellow ribbons among them. Hong Kong is a lovely and interesting place. The city is tiny but it can accommodate people from all walks of life. It’s just that not many people who pass by this place are willing to stay on. Following the glamorous times, still few people are able to appreciate the simple but nice things in Hong Kong. And this year, the taste of tears has been added to the mix. Perhaps the beauty of simplicity in the city is something that has long been overlooked. Hopefully there is no expiry date to that.
