Chief Accelerator. The absurdity of 2020. (Lui Yue)

All top dictators of communist China have “honorifics”. Mao Zedong was termed by Lin Biao “Four Greats”- Great teacher, great leader, great commander and great helmsman. Although Mao seemed to resent the title when he threw Lin out, the song "Sailing the seas depends on the helmsman” had remained popular till his death. Bao Tong had wanted to name Deng Xiao-ping “Giant in his time” but dropped it in favor of “Great Architect of Modern China” for worries that “Giant” could be interpreted with sarcasm in view of Deng’s small build.
As for Xi Jin-ping, following the constitutional amendments in 2018, he became the “single and ultimate authority” like a Chinese emperor. With the outbreak of coronavirus in China in 2020, the designation as a paramount leader within China and the mockery as Winnie the Pooh outside of China all gave way to the new term “Chief Accelerator”. At the end of January, Xi disappeared from public sight for days after meeting Director-General of the World Health Organization(WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, sparking rumors about his health and power struggle. On February 5, a message which read as follows appeared on the internet: “Just watched the CCTV News program which showed Xi meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister. Obviously we have to continue to accelerate under the leadership of the Chief Accelerator.” Xi was crowned with the new title “Chief Accelerator”.
Where is China heading? For the Chinese Communist Party(CCP), it is a question of “To be or not to be”. Interestingly, during Two Sessions in 2020, Xi Jin-ping and Li Ke-qiang took different directions.
By late May, Wuhan virus has spread to the whole world. The loss of human lives and economic damages are no less than a world war. Held at such a time, Two Sessions were in fact Xi’s victory party to showcase that China had won the battle against coronavirus under his leadership and Chinese families will reach a well-to-do standard of living. Xi made use of the occasion to assert himself as a leader who could continue to lead the world despite global resistance to China on all fronts.
Xi Jin-ping had to be caught totally by surprise when Li Keqiang remarked in a press conference on May 28 that there were some 600 million people whose monthly income was barely 1,000 RMB in China which might not be enough to rent an apartment in a middle tier city. Such remark has blown apart Xi’s lies to the world. Li’s words are based on the research results of the China Institute for Income Distribution at Beijing Normal University.
Accomplishments of Chinese economic reforms totally squandered by Xi
Xi Jin-ping has insisted on fighting a trade war with Trump for two years; brutally suppressed Hong Kong's anti-extradition protests; covered up the virus outbreak in Wuhan and manipulated the WHO, causing disasters for the whole world. The immediate consequences for China are the disruption of the supply chain built over the past 40 years as a world factory and the weakening of domestic consumption. Li Ke-qiang advocated “street vendors economy” in Chengdu, bringing the long concealed unemployment problem to light. What is the unemployment rate in China? The figure ranges from 70 million to 200 million. China’s economic reforms have started with land contracts in rural areas and small commodity wholesale markets in cities. “Street vendors economy” is a lifeline for the unemployed when there is no better choice. This illustrates that the accomplishments of Chinese economic reforms in the last 40 years have been totally squandered by Xi Jin-ping in three years. The objective of reaching a well-to-do standard of living is nothing but a lie to the people.
The most intolerable is the resolution to enact a tailor-made national security law for Hong Kong. It has expedited the world’s encirclement of China. Trump has announced the cancellation of preferential treatment for Hong Kong and the sanctioning of Chinese and Hong Kong officials who undermine freedom in Hong Kong. On June 4, US Republican Senator Rubio and Democratic Senator Menendez joined the politicians of 9 other countries in forming a new coalition, the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China. In a video post, Rubio pointed out that: China, under the rule of the CCP, represents a global challenge, a challenge which is going to define the whole world and impact all governments in generations to come; no political party can be spared from it.
The national security law for Hong Kong is the last straw on the back of Xi Jin-ping. It will bring more brutal suppression on Hong Kong protests; but it will also arouse more resilient and lasting resistance among HongKongers. After establishing diplomatic ties with the US in 1979, Deng Xiao-ping made four remarks: first, the countries that follow the US become rich; second, the countries that follow the Soviet Union become poor; third, the countries that follow the US become democratic; fourth, the countries that follow the Soviet Union become authoritarian. After 41 years, if the Soviet Union was replaced by Xi Jin-ping, the remarks would still be valid.
In destroying Hong Kong as the world’s financial and trade center, Xi Jin-ping is also destroying China. He is raving mad in the wake of the doomsday of the Chinese Communist regime.
