CentralMarket（中央街市）、NorthPointMTRStation（北角地下鐵路站）應不應該冠以the字？
讀者感到迷惑，是因為讀《南華早報》看到以下兩句：（1）ThenextpieceofourpasttodisappearwithouttracecouldbeCentralMarket（下一個要消失得無影無蹤的古蹟，可能是中央街市）。（2）ArchitectsarecallingforpreservationoftheCentralMarket（建築師呼籲保存中央街市）。此外，報紙提到NorthPointMTRStation，the字也是或有或無。

一般而言，市場和車站名稱不冠以the字，例如：（1）HelivesclosetoTaiPoMarket（他住近大埔市場）。（2）ThetwoterroristsgotonatShatinRailwayStation（那兩名恐怖分子在沙田火車站上車）。
但是，CentralMarket、NorthPoint等，說明地理方向，和Shatin、TaiPo等專有名詞（propernoun）不同。CentralMarket應該用the指明，以別於theWestMarket（西區市場）；NorthPointMTRStation也應用the界定，以別於theSouthPointMTRStation（南角地下鐵路站）。同樣道理，街道名稱一般不冠以the，但說明地理位置的則例外，例如：IthinkhishouseisonPearyRoad,nottheGreatSouthRoad（他的房子應是在皮里路，不是大南路）。
然則CentralMarket、NorthPointMTRStation等為甚麼有時不用the？這應是因為Central、NorthPoint等對有些人來說已成為專有名詞，失去指示方向的意義，於是the字就被略去。
