Chinese dissident Wang Dan tests positive for COVID-19

蘋果日報 2021/01/04 09:10

Former Tiananmen student leader Wang Dan said he has been in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 in late December.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Wang said he was in good condition and had only mild symptoms. He had displayed coronavirus symptoms for over 12 days, and his doctor said he could end his self-isolation, Wang added.
“There is no need to worry about me. I have been jailed twice by the Chinese Communist Party. Their virus cannot defeat me,” he wrote.
Wang said the most recent wave of infections was “severe.” He added that he did not know the source of his infection since he had been very careful about taking health precautions.
“Don’t drop your guard … My symptoms were milder than that of a common cold, but I still tested positive. I urge everyone to get tested if they show any relevant symptoms,” he said.
When asked by Taiwanese media, Wang declined to elaborate on his condition, saying that it involved private medical information.
Wang told his supporters that they should deal with the situation calmly if they get infected. They should cooperate with medical professionals, drink plenty of water and get sufficient rest, he added.
