科研團隊確認航行者二號已離開太陽圈

    五份分別刊於《自然》期刊的報告確認，航行者二號 (Voyager 2) 已在去年 11 月 5 日離開太陽圈 (heliosphere) 。
    太陽圈是由太陽風組成的巨型氣泡狀區域，可排斥銀河系星際等離子壓力。
    自 1977 年發射至今，航行者二號已超額完成不少太空任務，現時更擔當起探測星際空間的先鋒，幫助了解太陽系以外的秘密。去年探測器開始測量到宇宙射線訊號，意味有機會正在跨越太陽圈。研究人員啟動機上所有探測設備，希望可由此了解太陽圈的秘密。
    經過一年時間分析後，研究人員發現航行者二號經過的太陽圈比航行者一號在 2012 年跨越太陽圈時收集到的數據有不同：太陽圈似乎比較短和平滑，磁場也較強。據等離子測量數據觀察，確認航行者二號只花費不到一天就跨越了太陽圈。
    此外，機上宇宙觀射線測量儀器的發現亦與航行者一號有差異。航行者一號曾測量到宇宙射線及星際磁場有穿透太陽圈的情況，但航行者二號則發現星際磁場只包圍著太陽圈，而宇宙射線則沿著磁場釋出，反映太陽圈比想像中存在更多變數，（磁場活動）機制更為複雜。
    研究人員估計，兩組探測器數據差異有機會源於多個因素，其中已知的包括航行者跨越太陽圈時，正好是太陽 11 年週期中，太陽風暴較強的時間；相反，航行者二號跨越太陽圈時，太陽風暴則較弱。現時研究人員還未完全了解到太陽圈以至是太陽系的運作機制，而太陽圈的外貌亦是未知之數。
    雖然科學家估計航行者二號已離開太陽圈，但完全擺脫太陽影響，離開太陽系還需至少 300 年航程，屆時探測器除了已停止運作外，現時幾代人類相信也沒可能見證到該時刻。不過，至少現時科學家已再進一步了解到太陽系的機制，由此或可幫助了解其他星系形成的秘密。
