疫情下多人留家睇電視 歐洲 Netflix 未來 30 日限制只播標清 防網絡爆煲

武漢肺炎疫情近日在歐美地區持續爆發，多國政府鼓勵減少社交活動留在家中，串流影音平台 Netflix 流量大增。Netflix 昨日響應歐盟呼籲，宣布未來 30 天只提供標清（standard）畫質，減少流量負擔，防止網絡服務「爆煲」，措施只限歐洲地區，香港用戶不受影響。
據美國商業新聞網站 Business Insider 報導，歐盟產業政策執委布萊頓（Thierry Breton）主動致電 Netflix 行政總裁哈斯廷斯（Reed Hastings）協商，認為要減緩因疫情導致網路流量負擔大增的情況，以確保因疫惰而要在家工作和學習的人士不會受到網絡大擠塞影響（To secure Internet access for all），布萊頓呼籲，在不必要的情況下，人們應盡量選用標清畫質收看影片。

— Thierry Breton (@ThierryBreton) March 20, 2020Netflix 在 3 月 19 日宣佈，未來 30 日歐洲地區只提供標清畫質服務，以標清畫質的 Netflix 影片每小時使用 1 GB 數據，而高清影片每小時使用 3 GB 數據來計算，預計此舉可以節省 25% 網絡流量，同時保持用家的使用體驗。
