【副校爭議】申作軍發聲明：我不是中共黨員　稱接任清華系主任時「被誤列黨委」

    香港大學校委會在一片反對聲中，委任內地學者申作軍、宮鵬為港大副校長。其中，獲委任為副校長（研究）的申作軍，透過港大向傳媒發放書面聲明，強調自己並非中共黨員，亦並非如傳媒報道所指，為清華大學工業工程系黨委。他表示，錯誤始於數年前接任學系系主任時，被誤列入黨委一員。近日經傳媒報道後，他已立即聯絡清華大學校方，並已作出修改。
    申作軍在聲明中表示，自 2004 年起在美國加州大學柏克萊分校（UC Berkeley）全職任教，而在清華大學的職位只屬榮譽性質、並獲得 UC Berkeley 批准。申作軍解釋，作為清華大學工業工程系的榮譽系主任，每年只有數星期時間在清華，沒有參與日常學系運作。
    申作軍強調，自己並非中共黨員，也不是學系黨委，形容是相關網頁管理員的疏忽。
    申作軍表示，經傳媒報道後已立即聯絡清華，校方已立即修正網站上有關他的資料。他補充，發現錯誤始於數年前，當他接任系主任時時，被誤列為黨委（mistakenly assigned to the party committee），希望是次澄清可以釋除疑慮。

    Statement of Professor Max Shen

    In the light of the recent news reports on my background, I would like to make a clarification as below.

    I have been working full time at UC Berkeley starting from 2004 and my appointment in Tsinghua is only honorary with approval from Berkeley. Being the honorary department chair, I only spend a few weeks every year in Tsinghua and do not participate in the daily operations of the department. I am not a member of the Chinese Communist Party and I am also not in the party committee as claimed by the reports. It was an oversight by the webmaster of the respective website.

    After I read the reports I immediately contacted Tsinghua and they have rectified allinformation about me on their websites. I later found out the error started several years ago when I, as the department chair, was mistakenly assigned to the party committee.

    I hope this clarification can clear all misunderstandings between us.

    張翔去信師生：流言傷害候選人及其家人
    校長張翔晚上亦去信港大師生，強調申作軍、宮鵬均為世界級學者及院校領袖，過去幾日「不幸地，遴選過程資料遭外洩，引起本地傳媒一連串爭議」，所導致的流言及不安，不止引起香港社會的混淆，亦對候選人及其家人造成傷害（caused pain to the candidates and their families）。張翔在電郵中附上候任副校長申作軍的書面聲明，否認自己是中共黨員。
    張翔又指，雖然自己與申作軍、宮鵬曾一起在 UC Berkeley 任教，但任教不同學系，除了曾在校園活動遇見數次，彼此沒有其他聯絡。張又指，作為遴選委員會主席，已採取所需措施防止任何利益衝突，相信師生都會同意，校方在遴選過程中有道德、法律責任，確保候選人資料保密，形容今次洩密事件不止損害了港大校譽，亦影響香港將來招聘人才。
