拜登國家安全顧問指中國侵犯香港自由 非常關注多名民主派被捕及判監

美國候任總統拜登提名的國家安全顧問蘇利文 (Jake Sullivan) 批評中國肆意侵犯香港自由，並表示深切關注持續有港人因參與民主運動而被拘捕及囚禁。
被提名為國家安全顧問的蘇利文在周二 (8/12) 於社交網站 Twitter 表明：「我們將與盟友和夥伴同行，抗衡中國對香港自由的攻擊 — 並為被控人士尋求避風港。」
I'm deeply concerned about the continuing arrests and imprisonment of pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong. We stand united with our allies and partners against China's assault on Hong Kong's freedoms—and to help those persecuted find safe haven.
— Jake Sullivan (@jakejsullivan) December 8, 2020今次為拜登提名國家安全團隊後，首次有內閣成員就香港局勢公開表態。近日澳洲與中國關係再度緊張，蘇利文在 Twitter 發表帖文表明支持澳洲，但沒有明確提到中國，他指澳洲在捍衛民主自由方面，作出了很多犧牲，美國將「與我們的盟友澳洲及其他民主國家並肩同行，促進我們共同渴求的安全、繁榮及價值觀。」
《金融時報》指，有部份共和黨及民主黨人擔心拜登上台後，美國對中國態度會軟化，但拜登團隊已多次表明會以強硬態度應對中國。

— Jake Sullivan (@jakejsullivan) December 2, 2020美中關係將成為拜登一月宣誓就職後最大挑戰之一。拜登陣營暫未公佈對於中國的策略，但他較早前接受《紐約時報》訪問時表明，不會急於取消特朗普在美中貿易戰對中國實施的關稅。較早前，眾議院已通過《香港人民自由和選擇法案》 ，若法案在參議院通過，以及在特朗普簽署後，將可為港人提供臨時保護身分。
