【蔡玉玲罪成】美國務院：深表失望 強調新聞自由獲中英聯合聲明保證

香港電台《鏗鏘集》《7.21 誰主真相》編導蔡玉玲，去年因查車牌被控兩項「虛假陳述」罪，昨日（22 日）在西九龍裁判法院被判處罪名成立，罰款 6,000 元。美國國務院發言人 Ned Price 本港時間今早（23 日）在 Twitter 表示，美國對於蔡玉玲因工作被定罪深表失望（deeply disappointed）。Ned Price 並且說，蔡玉玲剛被獲頒金堯如新聞自由獎，是新聞自由的冠軍人馬（champion of press freedom）；他並且指出，新聞自由在《中英聯合聲明》獲明文保證。
歐盟駐香港及澳門辦事處昨日（22 日）亦發聲明，指蔡玉玲被判罪成，提醒人們新聞自由不是理所當然，「裁定記者蔡玉玲有罪，提醒我們新聞自由不能被認為是理所當然，法律也不應用以扼殺新聞業的合法性」。
