Liu Xiaobo
Arrested for inciting subversion of state power. Liu is a writer, professor, and human rights activist who has called for political reforms and the end of communist single-party rule. He was awarded the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize for “his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China.” In December 2009, he was sentenced to eleven years in prison and a two-year deprivation of political rights.
