雙學三子判監　加拿大駐港領事館：望判決不礙年輕人行使和平示威人權

    「雙學三子」黃之鋒、羅冠聰和周永康因2014年「9.26公民廣場案」，昨被上訴庭改判囚6至8個月。加拿大駐香港及澳門總領事館今於其Facebook專頁發文指，加拿大希望昨天的判決，不會阻礙到香港，尤其是年輕人，繼續行使言論自由和和平示威的人權，這些都是受《基本法》第27條所保障的權利。
    加拿大駐香港及澳門總領事館指，就香港政府向上訴庭的覆核刑期申請，加拿大方面注意到香港上訴庭昨天對黃之鋒、羅冠聰和周永康的判刑。
    總領事館亦指，加拿大和香港有著緊密聯繫，包括人民與人民之間深厚的聯繫、共同的法治傳統和人權價值。總領事館指，能夠和平集會和示威，乃核心的人權，香港是被公認為開放的社會，有悠久民眾參與政治表態的傳統。
    涉及三年前「9.26公民廣場案」的「雙學三子」，香港眾志主席羅冠聰、秘書長黃之鋒及學聯前秘書長周永康，被律政司申請刑期覆核，上訴庭昨判３人各囚6至8個月，即時收監。其中，黃之鋒被判囚6個月，羅冠聰被判囚8個月，周永康被判囚7個月。
    上訴庭副庭長楊振權指，長達64頁的判詞中已經清楚闡述法庭判刑的理由，並強調法庭已經充分考慮到各人的行為，動機，認為各人的行為是以及以集會權利為藉口而作出犯法行為。

    Canada notes the decision yesterday of Hong Kong's Court of Appeal on the sentencing of Joshua Wong, Nathan Law and Alex Chow, the result of the Hong Kong Government's appeal to seek greater punishment than the initial court judgment in their cases.

    The strong ties between Canada and Hong Kong include deep people-to-people connections, a common legal heritage and shared values of human rights.

    The ability to gather and to protest peacefully is a core human right. Hong Kong is widely recognised as an open society with a long tradition of popular engagement in political expression‎.

    Canada hopes that yesterday's decision will not discourage people in Hong Kong, especially the young, from continuing to exercise their human rights to freedom of expression and peaceful demonstration, rights that are guaranteed under Article 27 of the Basic Law.
