剛遷入總理府　新西蘭「第一貓」遇車禍離世

    譽為新西蘭「第一貓」的總理愛貓 Paddles，遷入總理府不久，即在新居附近撞車身亡。總理辦公室發言人確認事件，駐當地美國大使亦透過愛犬的 Twitter 致哀。
    新西蘭總理 Jacinda Ardern 上月當選，與伴侶 Clarke Gayford 攜同愛貓 Paddles 遷入奧克蘭的總理府居住，並為 Paddles 開設「新西蘭第一貓」的 Twitter 帳戶，不時上載與愛貓的合照。

    總理府發言人表示，Paddles 當地時間周二傍晚在住所附近被汽車撞倒，即時失去知覺，並被獸醫確認死亡。總理 Ardern 在 Instagram 回應愛貓離世，指 Paddles 受人寵愛。她又稱，貓兒領養自當地的愛護動物協會（SPCA），感激 SPCA 的救援工作，道：「他們比我們更早遇上 Paddles，大家應該欣賞 SPCA 的工作」。Ardern 的伴侶 Clarke Gayford 亦透過 Paddles 的 Twitter 表示，「如果大家想紀念 Paddles，請捐助新西蘭的 SPCA」。
    Paddles 的消息傳遍社交媒體，不少國人致哀，甚至有人建議為貓兒舉行「國葬」。駐當地美國大使亦透過愛犬的 Twitter 致哀，與大使一家為貓兒祈禱。
