【書藝創作】變形記 | The Metamorphosis

「命由天定，運由己生；是化蝶，或成蠅，皆因果。」

《變形記》是在2017年創作的書籍藝術作品，於第三屆書本藝術節「Flip!」展覽首次發表及展出。

本屆書本藝術節的主題是「翻頁」，為配合主題，我以「翻書動畫」去創作此次作品。但今次做的不止是手翻書，而是自動的翻頁裝置。

胖毛蟲在樹葉下結蛹、成長、蛻變；大家或許期待毛蟲最終會蛻變成蝴蝶，但世事往往不似預期，牠只能長成蒼蠅。人生之所以有趣，就是其難以預料的驚喜。

最終，一隻眼大大、毛茸茸的蒼蠅破蛹而出，展翅高飛。

The Metamorphosis

In response to ‘flip’, the theme of the Hong Kong Book Art Festival this year, my work is made as a flipping animation — an animation not flipped by hand, but automatically by installation.

Under the leaf, the fat caterpillar pupates, grows and transforms. All of you might expect to see it becoming a butterfly, but things are often not as expected, this caterpillar can only turn into a fly. What makes life interesting is exactly these unpredictable surprises.

In the end, a furry fly with big eyes breaks out of the pupa, and soars into the sky.
