繼美國國會「美中經濟與安全審查委員會」年度報告，批評北京侵蝕香港一國兩制，建議重新評估是否仍香港是有別於中國的獨立關稅區地位後，美國國務院發言人諾爾特（Heather Nauert）亦在Twitter發帖，指美國越來越關注香港發生連串削弱基本自由的行動，促請北京及特區政府遵守他們對一國兩制原則下的承諾。
