CBS 記者：有人指妳是「説謊慣犯」　林鄭：我和其他公職人員一樣有誠信

    特首林鄭月娥今午（18日）舉行記者會，並就修訂《逃犯條例》一事向市民道歉。答問環節中，美國 CBS 電視台記者引述社會上有說法指責林鄭月娥是「説謊慣犯」，問她有何回應。林鄭月娥即反駁，指她不接受有人這樣形容自己，又強調自己有誠信和品德。
    CBS 電視台駐亞洲記者英若明（Ramy Inocencio）在記者會上向林鄭月娥提出質疑。他這樣問林鄭月娥，「社會上有人持續對你不信任，但你仍希望社會給予另一次機會，有批評者甚至指你是説謊的慣犯（habitual liar），需要靠眼淚嘗試令大眾信服，你對此有何意見？」
    林鄭月娥回應，不接受有人這樣形容自己。她表示自己過去曾任多項公職，和其他公職人員一樣，都是有著重要的美德，包括誠信和品德（integrity and character）。她又稱，自己曾多次提過政府在處理修訂問題上，引起社會巨大的擔憂和焦慮，因此政府立即在 6 月 15 日決定暫緩修訂。
    林鄭表示，承諾在社會上任何疑慮未有完全化解時（adequately addressed），她不會再推動任何《逃犯條例》修訂的立法程序。她又指，了解立法會程序的人士都會知道本屆立法會將在明年七月完結。由於現時修訂並無任何重推的時間表，如果政府未能在來年七月完成化解社會擔憂的工作，政府會接受現實，而修訂草案亦會因本屆立法會完結而失去效力。

    會後英若明在 Twitter 發文，指不知是北京旨意，還是林鄭自己的選擇，事實已證明她無能力「撤回」（retract）修訂，「如她撤回修訂的話，她可能會種拾社會人士一部份的信任，不過這樣就會失去北京的信任和她的工作，進退維谷（Rock and a hard place）」。
    在 6.12 警民衝突期間，英若明在 Twitter 上載影片，指他在金鐘佔領現場報導時，並無配帶任何防護裝備，當時有年青示威者為他送上雨傘和頭盔，他表示希望親自向香港的年青人道謝。他提到當時，警方使用催淚彈射向他與同事所在的群眾，「當時獲送上雨傘及頭盔，我可能永遠無法知道他們的身份，但很感謝他們的關注」。片段所見，他當時以國語及廣東話感謝示威者者，「謝謝，唔該唔該」。
