中大新傳師生校友聯署：請政府「應民意，講人話」

    （編按：自《逃犯條例》修例風波以來，政府至今仍未回應民間五大訴求，警察處理近日示威的手法亦備受爭議，香港中文大學新聞與傳播學院一群教職員及校友發起聯署，促請行政長官林鄭月娥「應民意，講人話」，至今已有近千人聯署。全文轉載如下。）

    致行政長官林鄭月娥：
    我們是香港中文大學新聞與傳播學院的教職員、學生與校友。我們一直堅信言論自由的重要，亦恪守專業價值與承擔社會責任。我們對六月以來特區政府和香港警察處理反對修訂《逃犯條例》運動的手法感到強烈不滿和痛心。
    我們看到警方一再針對並阻撓傳媒採訪，不止出言侮辱，甚至暴力襲擊記者，嚴重損害傳媒採訪權和公眾知情權，香港的新聞與言論自由正受到前所未見的威脅。
    自修例爭議開始，社會各階層、身份及年齡的人均以不同方式表達對社會的關懷和對政府的訴求，但以你為首的香港政府漠視民意，至今仍未回應民間的訴求。數以百萬計的港人上街發聲，多名香港人甚至以死相諫，最近更有大量抗爭者被起訴，當中不乏仍然在學的年輕人。社會現時彌漫著負面情緒，反對聲音已遍佈各階層，情況令我們極為擔憂。為免局勢進一步惡化，我們現向行政長官林鄭月娥嚴正聲明。促請行政長官林鄭月娥：
    1. 立即撤回逃犯條例（修訂）條例草案
    2. 成立獨立調查委員會，徹查警方濫權濫暴情況
    3. 要求警方不得阻撓傳媒採訪工作，停止對新聞工作者的一切言語及肢體暴力
    4. 公開承諾尊重及捍衛新聞自由，呼籲各部門盡力協助傳媒工作
    5. 全面落實真雙普選

    “Listen to the People, Speak Like a Human Being” - Petition from Teachers, Staff, Students and Alumni of the School of Journalism and Communication of The Chinese University of Hong Kong

    To Chief Executive Carrie Lam,

    We are a group of teachers, staff, students and alumni of the School of Journalism and Communication of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. We have always firmly believed in the importance of freedom of speech. We always adhered to professional values and shouldered social responsibility. We are deeply dissatisfied and distressed by how the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Police Force have been handling the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill movement since June.

    We have seen the Police repeatedly target the press and obstruct journalists from carrying out their duties, through means not only limited to verbal insults, but also by violently assaulting journalists, severely damaging the media’s right to report and the public’s right to know. Freedom of the press and of speech in Hong Kong are now in unprecedented peril.

    Ever since the controversy over the Extradition Bill amendment began, people from all walks of life, social roles and age groups have been using various ways to voice out their care for our society and to appeal to the government, yet the people’s demands have been met with neglect and unresponsiveness by the government you lead. Millions of Hongkongers have taken to the streets, a number of people have even remonstrated by means of death, and a large number of protesters, including youngsters still in school, have been charged with criminal offences. We are greatly concerned negativity is shrouding the city and voices of opposition are heard from all walks of life. We are therefore making a solemn declaration to Chief Executive Carrie Lam to put a stop to any further deterioration of the circumstances. We urge you to:

    1. Withdraw immediately the Fugitives Offenders Legislation (Amendment) Bill
    2. Establish an independent commission of inquiry to thoroughly probe the Police’s abuse of power and violence
    3. Request the Police not to obstruct or hinder journalists’ reporting work, and halt all verbal and physical violence targeting journalists
    4. Pledge openly to respect and uphold freedom of the press, and call on all departments to assist the work of journalists to the best of their ability
    5. Implement dual universal suffrage
