(English)
Chief Executive Carrie Lam,
Do you see that our children are being tortured by the police?
Do you hear the angry roar of us, the mothers?
How could a 13-year-old child on her way to buy textbooks be arrested and prosecuted?
How could our kids be arrested and then had their faces smashed in?
How could our child be blinded by a lead-bead round while providing first aid on the frontlines?
How could the police be planting evidence on our children?
How much teargas have our babies, toddlers, pregnant women, and elderly people been forced to inhale in different districts?
Carrie Lam, please stop indulging the police violence that is ruining Hong Kong.
June 12, July 21, August 11 have become dates that every HongKonger will never forget.
We, as mothers, are painfully worried about the future of the more than 700 protestors who have been arrested;
We, as mothers, are righteously angry at our children’s bodies being disabled and abused by police.
Hong Kong has been consumed with turmoil because the Hong Kong government has continuously ignored public demands since June 9, and indulged police abuse of power.
Chief Executive Carrie Lam, please do not go down in history as the one who drove Hong Kong into this abyss.
Top government officials, Executive Council members, and pro-Beijing legislators, please do not make your mark in history as those who defended a tyrannical regime and facilitated political oppression.
Hong Kong Police, please do not let history remember you as tools of political oppression.
We hope that the trace of conscience and humanity left in you would give you the courage to stop the violent crackdowns, to investigate and make accountable police brutality, and to respond to the five demands. Only by doing this could you bring Hong Kong from the brink of tragic demise back to its rightful place as our Home.
In addition, We hope to raise funds through crowd-sourcing and publish the above statement (Chinese version) in Ming Pao and Apple Daily. We want to set the record straight.
The initial plan is to publish the statement on August 23, with a target sum of HK$777,000. If we raise more than what is necessary for publication, the remaining amount will be donated to 612 Humanitarian Support Fund.
Due to limited space, we may not be able to publish all names. Thank you for your understanding.
